4) mix sauces! The sauces are all pretty good on their own, but the flavors you can get from combining them can be even better.
VERY fresh offerings. Huge selection of meats, vegetables and sauces. Fun to watch the grill masters do their work. Great dessert choices as well. $10 for lunch and $15 for dinners make it irresistible. The $2 beer days complete this casual and fun dining experience.
Pro tip: If you run a restaurant, make sure the time listed for closing is the time at which you will not accept more customers, NOT the time your workers go on break.
2) despite the way the buffet is organized start with putting your proteins on your plate first. This is usually the last thing you get, but if you pile your plate high with veggies, the proteins will just slide off. If you get them first, as they are flat, you can put veggies on top easily.
I love Gobi! The food and selection are awesome. There's usually not much of a wait and the pricing is reasonable. This is a great place to go out for birthdays and celebrations.
They end their lunch hours at 3pm. I figured this meant, like most restaurants, that they would seat people until 3pm. I drove an hour and a half to get here only to make it with about fifteen minutes to spare, and they refused to seat us.
The food is excellent! The fact that you choose your own ingredients makes makes sure you only get what you want. Some advice:
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something that is a little out of the ordinary, but with familiar flavors.
Used to love coming here. Would go way out of my way to go to a decent Mongolian grill.
Always delicious and always exactly what and how you want your meal to be!!!
1) skip the salad bar. Though it is very fresh, it's not really why you came here, right?
A fantastic place to eat. For one very affordable price, which includes a well-stocked desert selection and fresh make-it-yourself salad bar you get a wonderful all-you-can-eat feast. You make your selection from raw foods which are then taken to a numbered location at a huge griddle, where your selections are fresh-grilled. Your average wait for food is about 10 minutes, but, the wait is well worth it. Drinks are extra, but with free refills. I can see myself returning here again and again.
5) bring your kids. Children's prices are reasonable, and the fact that they choose their own mix of ingredients AND get to watch someone cook them is a win-win situation. My five year old was entranced, and ate everything on her plate. She isn't a really picky eater, but getting her to finish her food can be a challenge.
3) don't be shy about piling stuff on your plate. It will cook down, and the serving plate the put your food on at the end is much bigger.
I spoke to the "manager" on the phone (who was either just an employee trying to cover their ass or simply an unhelpful manager) and they refused to do anything to accommodate the fact that we drove an hour and a half to this place. No future discounts, no "come back in, I'll make sure you get food", nothing. Just a hollow "Sorry about that" which she clearly did not mean.
